Privacy Policy
StrumAndKey's 6 practice tools (tuner, metronome, transposer, chord finder, scale visualizer, progression builder) all run entirely client-side — audio captured by the tuner tool for pitch detection is processed locally in your browser and is never recorded, stored, or transmitted anywhere.
To understand which chords, scales and lessons get used, StrumAndKey runs Google Analytics 4, which sets cookies to recognise repeat visits, and Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies. Neither receives the audio the tuner analyses.
Advertising
The tuner, metronome and reference pages stay free partly thanks to display ads from Google AdSense. Google's cookies tell it which ad to place in each space and whether anyone noticed it; if you allow personalisation, they also let it choose ads based on other sites you have visited. Before any of those personalised-ad cookies are set, visitors in the EEA and the UK see a consent request from Google, and can revise that choice later.
Advertising never changes a chord shape, a scale or a lesson, and no advertiser gets to review a page before it goes up. Separately, pages that name gear such as a capo, a tuner, strings or a chord book may link to it on Amazon as an affiliate; the affiliate disclosure explains how that works.
Google My Ad Center shows why an ad appeared and lets you mute personalisation; for other ad networks, aboutads.info has a shared opt-out. Google describes its advertising cookies in its advertising policies.
Newsletter, contact and payments
Newsletter signups are stored with our email provider, Brevo, only to send the updates you've opted into, and you can unsubscribe at any time. Contact-form messages reach our inbox through Brevo too. Chord Reference Pack purchases and donations are processed by Stripe, so your card details are never seen or stored by StrumAndKey.
